Damson Idris was born on September 2, 1991, in Peckham, London, United Kingdom, to Nigerian parents. He is the youngest child in a family of six children.
He grew up with his siblings: three elder brothers and two sisters, who are all in the corporate environment, from Law to IT.
Idris obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre, Film & Television Studies, from Brunel University London.
He also attended the Identity School of Acting, with the likes of John Boyega and Letitia Wright.
Career
Idris was introduced to acting by actress Cathy Tyson who encouraged him to meet Ade Solanke and audition for a part in her play, Pandora’s Box. He also took several parts in British series such as Miranda, Doctors, and Casualty.
He came to the limelight for his role as Franklin Saint in the crime drama Snowfall. He made his first big screen part in 2016 in the British thriller City of Tiny Lights alongside Riz Ahmed. He made his American film debut in Megan Leavey alongside Kate Mara, in 2017.
He has starred in other films such as Astral and Outside the Wire and featured in television series like The Twilight Zone, and Black Mirror.
