He attended St. Mary’s Private School in Lagos Island for primary education and then went on to Government College in Ikorodu, Lagos for secondary education. Later, he studied chemical engineering at the Federal University of Technology in Minna, Niger State, and obtained his bachelor’s degree.
Following a short period of employment as an engineer in the oil and gas sector, he made the decision to switch careers. He then embarked on his filmmaking journey by enrolling in AFDA Film School in South Africa, where he focused on developing his skills in writing and directing. Additionally, he expanded his expertise in the field by completing a filmmaking course at the University of Johannesburg.

Effiong and Toyosi Etim-Effiong got married on November 4, 2017. They initially met in August 2016 while working on a project together. In January 2019, the couple joyfully welcomed their first child, a baby girl.

In 2017, he directed a short film called “Prey,” produced by his wife, Toyosi, featuring Tope Tedela and Odenike Odetola.He was featured in Bland2Glam’s #thePowerof7 campaign in 2019 to celebrate the fashion industry’s seven-year milestone.
In 2019, he appeared in the comedy movie “Plan B” alongside Kenyan actresses Sarah Hassan and Catherine Kamau Karanja.
