In an effort to improve the professionalism of Nigerian Armed Forces personnel, the Ministry of Defense on Wednesday gave the Defense Headquarters twenty recently purchased armored personnel vehicles.
Dr. Ibrahim Kana, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, made this announcement on Thursday in Abuja.
The PS gave the APCs to Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff.
Kana stated during the handover ceremony that the move was intended to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities so that it could successfully handle new security threats.
Additionally, he said that its goal was to improve the Nigerian Armed Forces’ operational capability.
He states that this transfer of power represents an important turning point in our continuous endeavors to improve the operational preparedness of our armed forces.
“These Armored Personnel Carriers will provide our troops with enhanced protection and mobility, enabling them to carry out their duties more effectively in safeguarding our nation’s sovereignty.”
In a same vein, the CDS emphasized in his remarks the strategic significance of their role in strengthening the Armed Forces’ capacity to react promptly and quickly to security challenges.
“The acquisition of these Armored Personnel Carriers underscores our commitment to equipping our troops with the necessary resources to confront evolving security challenges.
“I commend the Ministry of Defence for its unwavering support and dedication to strengthening our national defence capabilities”, he said.
Announcing that the handover ceremony marks a critical turning point in Nigeria’s continuous efforts to strengthen its defense capabilities and protect national security, Musa also expressed gratitude for the acquisition of the APCs.
The procurement of these 20 armored personnel carriers, in his opinion, has improved the Nigerian Armed Forces’ capacity to meet the demands of the contemporary security environment and preserve peace and stability throughout the country.
