Ex-senator’s outcry moves Fintiri to sign water laws

Ahmadu Fintiri, the Adamawa State Governor  has signed into law, Water Supply and Sanitation Hygiene Services Law 2024.

The governor signed the water law one week after the former senator representing the Adamawa Northern Zone Senator Ishaku Abbo, criticised the state government over the perennial water scarcity in the state.

Abbo had stated, “Governor Fintiri is building flyovers and there is no water for people to drink. The flyovers are for car owners who are in minority in the state.

In Bekaji quarters, the residents book for water ahead of time for them to access water, which is now more expensive in Yola than petrol.Flyovers are not bad, but water is more important for survival of human beings.

The other bills signed by the governor included the Adamawa State Health Supplies Management Agency Law 2024, which repeals the State Essential Drugs Programme Edict of 1996.

Others are the state “Teachers Service Commission Law 2024,” which abolished the “Adamawa State Teachers’ Service Commission.
