In response to the passing of a Lagos based attorney, Bolanle Raheem, Falz, a Nigerian rapper and human rights advocate, has sent an open letter to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State.
Wakadaily reported that, the 41-year-old woman was four-month pregnant with twins when tragedy struck. They were returning home on Christmas Day when an officer attached to Ajiwe police station in Ajah, Lagos, shot and killed her.
Reactions have continued to trail the killing as the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba has ordered a probe into the unlawful shooting.
In the same vein, The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Civil Rights Organisations, CSOs and other social media influencers calling for justice and condemning what has been described as another police brutality.
On his part, Falz reminded the Governor of Lagos and Nigerian police force of the sad 20th, October 2020 massacre of #EndSars at Lekki toll gate.
The musician via his Twitter page wrote, “@jidesanwoolu @PoliceNG When we refused to leave the streets in October 2020, we were referred to as recalcitrant #EndSars youth that just wanted to make trouble. TWO YEARS after a panel made recommendations regarding those cases, they have still not been implemented..
“Another man in police uniform took the life of a pregnant Bolanle Raheem on Christmas Day. If this person isn’t punished & all details PUBLISHED for everyone to see, I am afraid many will interpret that as an invitation to chaos. Humble advice,” he said.
