Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, has declared that the distribution of grains was part of the broad intervention programme, the federal government was executing to reduce the hardship of the country and restoring the economy for sustainable development to all citizens.
The minister, during the flag-off at Government House, Sokoto, spoke on the release of 42,000 metric tones (MT) of different kinds of food commodities from the National Strategic Food Reserved across the country to vulnerable Nigerians.
Mohammed stated, that President Tinubu was concerned about rising food prices and was determined to make essential food available and affordable to Nigerians.
He also explained the reason why he approved the distribution of 42,000 metric tonnes of assorted grains, including sorghum, millet, and maize, and 60,000 metric tonnes of rice through millers.
He further said that the Federal Government is very much aware of the transitional pains brought about by the President’s policy reform and are putting effort in place to mitigate them.
He said: “The government calls for continued patience and understanding from Nigerians as we push through these difficult times into a season of abundant benefits and truly renewed Hope. As the President never fails to emphasize, these headwinds we face are only temporary, and we will surely overcome them,” he said.
