Nigerian former Super Eagles forward, Kanu Nwankwo has denied endorsing the APC Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Wakadaily gathered that Sam Omatseye, posted an old clip which was captured in March 2022 where Kanu was praising Tinubu, during a visit to commemorate Tinubu’s 70th birthday.
The APC supporter had claimed that the former footballer was a supporter of the presidential candidate.
Sam Omatseye captioned the video, “Kanu Nwankwo explains why Tinubu is his candidate”.
“In year 2020, I wanted to start Kanu Heart Foundation.
Peter Obi and all the Igbo Leaders refused to Help me. I reached out to Tinubu, he came to Sheraton Hotels, Abuja and gave me 5million Nara. That money was what I used in starting the foundation you hear today”.
Reacting to the viral video, via his Instagram page on Saturday, Kanu Nwankwo said the news was fake news as he isn’t endorsing any politician.
He said, “My country people. I said and I will say it again. I am not a politician, I am a footballer. Whoever is there is just spreading fake news about me that I asked you to go vote for who and who. Al my life is about football.
This is the last time. Stop spreading fake news against Papilo. I am here to help people and not to destroy what you can’t destroy. Go get your PVC and vote for the best.”
