Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas comes out as gay

Former Spanish professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper and real madrid legendary identified as Iker Casillas Fernández has come out as gay.

Iker made the shocking announcement in a tweet that reads, “I hope you respect me: I’m gay. felizdomingo” via his official Twitter account on  Sunday afternoon, October 9.

Barcelona legend Carlos Puyol then replied to the tweet that “The time has come to tell our story, Iker, with love and kiss emoji.”

The 41-year-old was married to sports journalist Sara Carbonero for five years before their separation in March 2021, having had two children together, both boys.

However,, Iker deleted the post, claiming his account was hacked. He wrote, “Hacked account. Luckily everything in order. Apologies to all my followers. And of course, more apologies to the LGBT community.”
