Full list: NBC orders shutdown of Raypower Fm, AIT and 50 other broadcast stations

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), has ordered immediate shut down of 52 broadcast stations, including the Sliverbird Television, Raypower FM and African Independent Television amongst others.

“NBC said the directive became imperative following debts incurred by the broadcasting organisations amounting to at least N2.6bn.

“Director General of the NBC Mallam Balarabe Shehu has directed its state offices to liaise with security agencies to ensure the shut down of the operation of the stations is enforced within the next 24 hours.

“The commission informed that a two-week waiver was given to broadcast stations in May, after which they risked the revocation of their broadcast licences.

Broadcasters owned by some state governments were also ordered to shut down.
