Gunmen kidnap journalist in Abia State 

Unknown gunmen on late hour of Tuesday around 10 pm kidnapped journalist Chucks Onuoha, who was a former Abia Correspondent of The Sun Newspaper based in Umuahia, Abia State.

According to reports Onuoha was kidnapped at his residence at Ohuhu in Umuahia North Local Government Area in Abia, they also took his car away.

His family reported that the kidnappers has contacted them and allegedly demanding N10 million ransom before he could be released.

The Abia State Police Command said he was yet to be officiallyy notified regarding the incident which happened on Tuesday.

Geoffrey Ogbonna, The Command Public Relations Officer said, “we are yet to be officially notified.”

Meanwhile, Suleiman Anyalewechi, the President General of the community, has confirmed the incident to newsmen.

Noting that “he was contacted by the secretary of the community last night to inform him that some men took Chucks Onuoha away.

He added that they were not sure what it was all about until this morning when the kidnappers established contact with the family that he is in their custody as they speak.”
