Gunmen kill Vigilante Commander, kidnap others in Niger 

Vigilante commander killed with two of his men by gunmen on Kpada community of Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Friday night after an attack on local farmers by the bandits, who abducted many of them, injured some and burn down the tractor the farmers were using.

A resident of Kpada Musa Hussain, said that “after the attack, the bandits proceeded to the forest with their victims, which led to the vigilante group members chasing after them.

He further noted that “in the process of the search and rescue mission to the forest embarked upon by the security men, the three, including their commander, were killed.

The commissioner for Internal security Emmanuel Umar confirmed the incident, advising that members of the community should not go after the bandits in the forest.”
