Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen reportedly killed the community ward head of Mabel community of Butura and three others in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau States.
The community has been thrown into panic following the attack which resulted in the death of four persons while various people were injured.
The former Councillor of Batura ward on Bokkos local council government Hon Josiah Mahwash confirmed the incident to The Nation.
Rafan Dafang James, “who claimed to be a resident in a WhatsApp message, indicated the gunmen invaded the Plateau community and started shooting sporadically.”
In another development, eight persons were confirmed dead while two others sustained injuries following an auto crash along Jos-Lamingo road on Saturday in Plateau.
The state Public Enlightenment Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Peter Longsan, said, “The crash involved two vehicles, a Toyota Hiace bus and a Honda Pilot jeep. Number of people involved was 10, all onboard, out of which eight died (three adult males, four adult females and one child) while two others sustained injuries.
“The two injured were taken to the Jos University Teaching Hospital by an FRSC Rescue Team for medical attention, while the remains of the deceased were deposited at the old JUTH.
“The unfortunate incident happened as a result of excessive speed by one of the drivers, which led to loss of control and resulted to head-on collusion of the two vehicles,” he said.
