Nollywood actress , Halima Abubakar has issued her initial public statement subsequent to being fined by the court for defaming Apostle Suleman.
Wakadaily earlier reported , that a Federal High Court had instructed Halima to pay Apostle Johnson Suleman N10 million as compensation and also prohibited her from further spreading defamatory remarks about him.
The judge highlighted that Abubakar had the opportunity to defend herself in the case but chose not to do so, leading to her having to retract her statement against the clergyman on her Instagram page.
In her first post following this development, Halima shared a new photo on Instagram, expressing her thankfulness and recognizing the blessing of life.
She appeared unaffected by the court’s ruling and conveyed that she was filled with gratitude, emphasizing the goodness of God and urging her followers to enjoy their holiday.
“Filled with gratitude and the gift of life.Enjoy your holiday dearies”.
Her fellow actress, Doris Ogala, has expressed her opinion on the court’s ruling, deeming it unjust as she emphasized that Halima was simply sharing her truth. A close friend of Tonto Dikeh, Doris stated that she planned to contact Halima to challenge the judgment.
Over a span of three months, Halima had disclosed details of her relationship with Apostle Johnson Suleman from Omega Fire Ministry, revealing how he initiated contact and their involvement began.
Despite her illness at the time, Halima maintained that she was unaware of Suleman’s marital status as he claimed to be separated. She mentioned pleading with him numerous times to reconcile with his wife to no avail.
Halima alleged that Suleman proposed to her on seven occasions, all of which she turned down. Unperturbed by her rejections, Suleman involved Halima’s parents in their relationship and went ahead with a wedding introduction.
In response to her accusations, Apostle Suleman took legal action against Halima Abubakar, demanding N1 billion in damages. He accused Halima of spreading harmful, malicious, and defamatory statements about him and insisted she retract her claims in specific National Newspapers.
