Last week, Chacha Eke made amends with her mother after a year of sharing her mental struggles with her.
She expressed her deep concern for her three daughters and the unimaginable pain of being forgotten by any of them.
Chacha, who is married to filmmaker Austin Faani, used her mother’s story as a reference point to pray for those who are suffering from mental and spiritual captivity.
In June 2023, Chacha opened up about how her mental health issues affected her relationship with her mother.
As she grew older, she developed feelings of disdain and hatred towards her mother, influenced by incorrect information from various religious leaders during her manic episodes. At one point, she even wished for her mother’s death.
Since her battle with bipolar disorder, Chacha has become a proud advocate for mental illness.
During her outreach efforts, she shared instances of destroying her own property during her manic episodes.
She also recounted a disturbing incident at Rit Hotel in Enugu, where she caused extensive damage.
Two years later, she experienced a similar episode that led to her hospitalization.
It was during this time that she received a proper diagnosis and was prescribed medication, which she would often flush down the toilet.
