IGP applause officers for rejecting N4m bribe over a drug case

kayode Egbetokun, the inspector General of police, has hailed SP Rilwan kasumu and his team in the Area K, marogbo of Lagos state for rejecting N4 million bribe which was offered to them.

The officers were offered N4m bribe while investigating a case of drugs peddling and  illegal possession of ammunition against a suspected drug dealer identified as, Esther Newman in obiekezie, f, 42 Years, aka candy, of no 6, mojirade Street ilogbo of Lagos state on the February.

However, the officers apprehended Esther Akete and Oke Okebalam who wanted to bribe them.

The force public Relations officer, ACP olumuyiwa Adejobi, who revealed this in a statement “The inspector-General of police, kayode Egbetokun, has commended the officer in charge of the police Tactical Team attached to Area K, Marogbo, Lagos state command, SP Rilwan Kasumu, and team, for rejecting N4M bribe during Investigating a case of drug peddle and illegal possession of ammunition.

“They have arrested Esther Newman Obiekezie,f,42 years, aka candy of No 6, 2024, at her situate where she sells drugs called ICE, and recovered a maximum quantity of substance also discovered Ak47 of munitions got from her.

“In the course of the investigation, the duo of Esther Akete, f, 43, and Oke Okebalam, m, 49 years, of Ajamgbadi Lagos, came to the station in Ijanikin to solicit the release of the drug peddler, Esther, and offered N4m and pleaded that the police should stop disrupting the illegal business (drug peddling) of Esther, henceforth.”

Adejobi also stated that the officers who got angry on the offer seized the cash and immediately arrested the duo for further investigation and more prosecution.
