Abducted immediate past chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Samuel Ohiri, has regained his freedom after 13 days in kidnappers den.
Ohiri was kidnapped from his palace in Orodo Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, January 6.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, confirmed the development while addressing journalists on Thursday.
He stated that the security operatives were able to secure the release of the monarch after the kidnap syndicate was forced to release him due to immense pressure mounted on them.
“We have two of the kidnap suspects in our custody. One led to the arrest of the other. We are making frantic efforts to get on the fleeing members,” he noted.
“The traditional ruler has been released. We didn’t hear of paying any ransom earlier before their arrest.
“Although, he had been held captive for almost two weeks, pale and emotionally troubled, he is still hale and hearty.”
