Kaduna ex-governor El-rufai to be probed by state Assembly

An investigation of the state’s financial transactions under the tenure of former Governor Nasir el-Rufai has been initiated by the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

Transactions from May 29, 2015, to May 29, 2023 will be examined by the investigation, with a particular emphasis on loans, financial transactions, contractual liabilities, and other pertinent issues.

The scope of the investigation was laid forth by Barr. Sakinatu Hassan Idris, Clerk to the Legislature, in a written communication to the Commissioner of Finance.

“The Kaduna State House of Assembly at its One Hundred and Fiftieth (150th) Sitting on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, resolved and constituted an Ad-Hoc Committee to investigate Loans, Financial Transactions, Contractual Liabilities & Other Related Matters of The Government of Kaduna State from 29th May, 2015 to 29 May, 2023,” the letter stated.

A thorough examination of the state’s financial procedures is part of the committee’s mandate, as stated in Sections 103, 128 and 129 of the 1999 Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and the Assembly’s Standing Orders and Rules of 2019.
