Kaduna farmer’s hand chopped off by Herdsmen for protesting invasion

In Damakasuwa, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, a herdsman identified as Wuzaipa Salisu has allegedly cut off the hand of a farmer, Bitrus Chawai.

It was said that the victim travelled home in preparation for this year’s farming when the incident happened.

The incident was confirmed by the victim’s younger brother, Barnabas, to the newsmen on Wednesday.

As claimed by the victim, a former NULGE Chairman in the Kauru Local Government Area and currently a trustee at the state level, visited his home on Sunday to clear the land in preparation for this year’s farming.

“My elder brother went to his farm, which is not more than 200km from our family house, and discovered that cows entered one of his farms and ate beans. He approached the boy only to be attacked.

“Their target was to behead him, but he used his hand to shield his head. As a result, his arm was chopped off,” he said

Barnabas, explained to the newsmen that it was not the first time the herdsman would do something like that in the community.

He further said two people were similarly attacked last year.

“His father personally took him to the Divisional Police Station in the Damakasuwa, Kauru Local Government Area.

“As we speak, my brother has been bleeding profusely since yesterday (Tuesday); we have been referred to another hospital in Kaduna,” Barnabas added.

ASP Mansir Hassan, the spokesperson for the state’s police command, didn’t pick up his calls and text messages sent to him by newsmen.
