The traditional ruler of Iku quarters in Ikare Akoko, North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State, alongside three others who were kidnapped on Thursday evening, have regained freedom.
Wakadaily reported that bandits ambushed the ruler and the other victims along Ago Panu area of Owo-Ikare Expressway, while travelling from Akure to Ikare.
Mr Mukaila Bello, who is the head of Iku Quarters in the ancient community, was kidnapped with a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Adeniran Adeyemo, a community leader, Bashiru and former House of Assembly Candidate for Akoko North-East Constituency Yèyé Gbafinro, while the driver managed to escape.”
The abductors had earlier demanded a sum of N50 million ransom before their release on Saturday, and the families of the victims had pleaded to the kidnappers to reduce the ransom.
Although, a family source who confirmed their release to newsmen was however mute on the payment of ransom to secure the release of the victims.
The Owa-Ale of Ikare Akoko, Oba Adeleke Adegbite-Adedoyin appreciated the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, his cabinet members and all Security agencies for their efforts in securing the release of the victims.”
