Lagos receives Badagry master plan report

The final draft report of the Badagry Master Plan from Messrs. Vista Plan Consulting which would last from 2022 to 2042, has been received by the Lagos State Government.

This was revealed on the Lagos State Government Website recently.

Dr Oluyinka Olumide, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, has received the document in Alausa, Lagos, said that the submission of the draft final report by the consultants signalled the commencement of the completion stages of the plan-preparation project.

He said, “Bringing the project to a logical conclusion required the validation of the report by stakeholders through a 28-day public display and final stakeholders meeting to allow for further inputs and produce an inclusive Plan that would last for the next 20 years.”

Olumide stated that bringing the project to a logical conclusion required the validation of the report by stakeholders through a 28-day public display and final stakeholders meeting to allow for further inputs and produce an inclusive Plan that would last for the next 20 years.

The ongoing review of the Badagry Master Plan 2013-2022 was a statutory requirement upon the expiration of the plan, which has necessitated the need to correct the gaps in the expired plan and produce a functional plan to guide the development of the Badagry axis for the next 20 years,” he explained.

Also speaking, Oluwole Sotire, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Physical Planning, said the review of the Badagry Master Plan was one of many physical development plans being prepared by the Sanwo-Olu administration to guide the development of the state, in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda of Lagos State Government.

Because of the impact on the development of the state and its influence on the people, we have always ensured that the preparation of development plans is done in consonance with people’s inputs, and the review of the Badagry Master Plan is no exception,” he said.

Meanwhile, Wale Alade, the co-founder of Vista Consulting, highlighted features of the draft final report as the identification of major gaps in the expired plan, collation of the inception report and the conduct of stakeholders/community engagement, as well as the identification of action areas and the prescription of implementation strategies.
