LASTMA urges passengers to caution driver when speeding

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has expressed felicitations to Muslims all throughout the state as they celebrate Eld El-Fitr, which signifies the successful conclusion of the Ramadan fast, alongside other devout people worldwide.

LASTMA has started aggressive public enlightenment campaign programs at motor parks and garages to encourage drivers to strictly abide by all traffic regulations, according to a statement released by the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, who quoted Bakare Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA.

He continued by saying that another aspect of the campaign was educating passengers about their rights “by alerting drivers when they are traveling at a high speed or attempting to deviate in an attempt to drive against one-way traffic.”

He issued a warning about breaking traffic signals, speeding, lane changes, overloading, driving in one direction, and obstructing traffic.

“The agency would not tolerate any avoidable infraction as a result of negligence capable of hindering the free flow of vehicular movement on roads across the state.” Oki stated.

Before, during, and after the Eld El-Fitr celebrations, the General Manager insisted, LASTMA officers would be at their lawful duty posts, supervising and controlling traffic.

LASTMA issued a warning to drivers last week to abide by speed limits when driving on the lengthy segment of the recently renovated Third Mainland Bridge.

It also placed traffic-related technology and reminded drivers to read all traffic signs.
