A man identified as Paul has been sentenced to nine months imprisonment by the mobile court in Oshodi after crossing the highway and for assaulting personnel of the Lagos Environment Sanitation Corps.

This was revealed by the state Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources,Tokunbo Wahab, in a post on his platform on Thursday.

Wahab wrote, “Paul was apprehended on the April 16 for not using the pedestrian bridge at Agbado Oke Odo, and in the process, he assaulted and wounded the enforcement personnel of LAGESCOfficial (KAI).

“The mobile court sitting at Oshodi yesterday sentenced him to nine months imprisonment.”

The ministry had recently warned residents against neglecting the pedestrian bridges, describing the crossing of major highways in the state by pedestrians as an offence.

It was reported on Tuesday that the state government apprehended and prosecuted 76 persons for allegedly shunning pedestrian bridges in the Ojota, Ladipo, and Oshodi areas of the state.

In March a 22- year old lady, Fasia Ajoke was sentenced to seven months and three weeks in prison for assaulting a LAGESC female officer while on duty.

However, she was reported to be guilty of resisting arrest and refusing to use the pedestrian bridge.
