Mercy Johnson Okojie (born 28 August 1984) is a Nigerian actress, film director, and film producer. she started her movie career with the movie titled “The Maid” which was in 2004, she was born on the 28th day of the month of August 1984, but her birth happened in Lagos. When she started her movie career she started it acting as a house help that was possessed by demons.

Mercy Johnson Early Life & Education

Mercy Johnson Okojie was born in Lagos state, Nigeria but she originally hails from Okene in Kogi State. Her dad is a former naval officer, Daniel Johnson, and his wife Elizabeth, Mercy is the fourth child in the family of seven.

Mercy started her primary education in Calabar, Cross River State. Her father, being a naval officer, was later transferred to Lagos State, They relocate to Lagos, where she continued her education at the Nigerian Navy Primary School.

She went to Rivers State Secondary School for her secondary education, in addition to the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

 Mercy Johnson Career

Mercy started her acting career after her secondary school education she auditioned for a role in The Maid and subsequently acted in other movies such as Hustlers, Baby Oku in America, and War in the Palace.

In 2009, when she realized that things were becoming serious with Prince Odi, she stopped accepting romantic roles. He was uncomfortable with them, and she was so in love with him that she did not hesitate to give them up. She also made the reduction in her number of nude scenes.

She has appeared in more than 150 movies to date. Many of which have been major hits at the box office. Though she plans on starring in many more since 2009 she has only released a handful of movies.
In November 2013, she was banned from acting in Nollywood after film directors decided that her demands had become too high, and she was too pricey. The ban was lifted in May, of the following year.

Her most recent film is ‘Thy Will Be Done, which was released in February 2015.
