Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, has condoled with the family and friends of Ayogu Eze, a former Senate spokesperson, who died at the age of 66.
Eze, who represented the Enugu North Senatorial District between 2007 and 2015, passed away last Thursday in an Abuja hospital after suffering from an undisclosed illness.
On Sunday, the Minister said Eze’s death was a loss to Enugu State and the country at large.
The minister said, “It is with deep sorrow that we acknowledge the passing of Senator Ayogu Eze, a revered figure in Enugu State and a pivotal advocate for democracy in Nigeria.
‘His untimely departure marks a significant loss for both the state and the nation at a crucial time in our democratic development.
“Throughout his career, Senator Eze was deeply involved in Nigeria’s transition from military rule, actively contributing to the establishment of our current democratic framework. He was particularly noted for his roles in the Third Republic and as a member of the Transition to Civil Rule Committee.”
