On Wednesday, a large group of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore supporters stormed the Federal High Court in Abuja, demanding Bello Bodejo, their president, be released unconditionally.
In connection with the establishing of a vigilante group, Bodejo was taken into custody on January 23 at the Miyetti Allah headquarters located in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
From that point on, the Defence Intelligence Agency had been keeping him under guard.
In a move ex-parte, filed on February 5, Attorney General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) requested that Bodejo be placed under arrest until the investigation’s conclusion and his formal arraignment.
However, Bodejo was placed on detention for a period of fifteen days by an order issued by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court’s Abuja Division.
The court granted the Federal Government seven days to bring a charge against Bodejo after the initial 15 days had passed.
The judge granted the FG seven days to present charges against Bodejo during the February 22 hearing.
Bodejo’s lawyer subsequently filed a motion for his unconditional release.
The motion is slated for hearing today.
