MMA Customs generate N28bn revenue in two months

According to the Nigeria Custom Service, Muritala Muhammad Airport Command said it generate N28bn within two months.

Victor Ogagbor, the Public Relations Officer of the command, revealed this on Wednesday.

Muhammad Yusuf, the Customs Area Controller in charge of the command said the funds is more than the command’s monthly target, saying that the feet was a result of the synergy and compliance from both officers and stakeholders.

It was reported that the commands target for January and February was N23.9bn while the command generated N28.9bn as revenue for January and February, an increase of N5bn, representing a 20 per cent growth.

Yusuf added that within the period under review, a lot of anti-smuggling activities were carried out that led to the interception of 50 pieces of 9mm live ammunition, which was discovered in a joint examination between the NCS and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency where two suspects were arrested and detained pending further investigation.

He said that  1,164kg of sea cucumbers and 58kg of Donkey Genitals were intercepted within the period under review,

The Custom Area Controller and members of the command to  remain resolute to justify the confidence reposed on the service by the Federal Government.
