NACA Urges Muslims To Uphold Purity And Sanctity During Eid-el-Fitr Celebrations

Muslims are advised to uphold their commitment to purity and sanctity practiced during Ramadan and to avoid participating in risky sexual behaviors.

This guidance was provided by Dr. Temitope Ilori, the Director General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, in an Eid-el-Fitr message released in Abuja by the agency’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Toyin Aderibigbe.

The Federal Government had declared Tuesday to Thursday as public holidays to commemorate the Eid-el-Fitr celebration, which marks the end of the month-long fasting of Ramadan. Ilori emphasized that the occasion signifies not only the conclusion of fasting, prayer, and introspection, but also a time to promote unity, compassion, and generosity within the Muslim community and beyond.

She inserted ,“On behalf of NACA, I convey heartfelt wishes of peace, joy, and prosperity to our Muslim brothers and sisters nationwide as they celebrate the joyous occasion of Eid el-Fitr. May this moment bring abundant blessings, renewed resilience, and spiritual fulfilment to all,”

Ilori emphasized the significant role of Eid el-Fitr in Islam, highlighting its core values of forgiveness, gratitude, and unity.

The NACA leader urged families and friends to come together to enjoy celebratory meals, exchange presents, and show kindness to those in need.

Furthermore , “I urge the Muslims to maintain their commitment to purity and sanctity observed during Ramadan. I advise against engaging in risky sexual behaviours.

“By adhering to Islamic teachings and practising abstinence or safe sexual practices, individuals can safeguard themselves and their partners from the transmission of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections.”

She also restated NACA’s commitment to advancing health, wellness, and unity across all communities, regardless of differences in faith or heritage.  ]“In the spirit of solidarity and empathy, all of us at NACA extend warm wishes for a joyous and tranquil Sallah to everyone celebrating Eid-el-Fitr.”
