NADDC partners Oando on electric vehicle rollout

In line with the Global Climate Change and promotion of zero carbon emission, the National Automotive Design and Development Council has declared it’s intentions to partner with Oando Clean Energy on the electrification of vehicles

Nigeria’s automobile regulator said this in a statement on its LinkedIn account.

The National Automotive Design and Development Council stressed that the collaboration would be a significant step towards decarbonising Nigeria’s public transport system and embracing sustainable transportation solutions, particularly through the adoption of hydrogen-powered vehicles.

Ademola Ogumbanjo, the Executive Vice President at Oando Clean Energy, declared the urgency of transitioning through renewable energy sources to strengthen energy security in Africa.

Ademola disclosed Oando Clean Energy’s research efforts, with a sustainable transport project design, aimed at alleviating Nigeria’s energy challenges while developing economic growth.

Joseph Osanipin, the Director-General of NADDC, showed appreciation for the initiative, adding that the partnership would address pressing environmental concerns and advance the automotive industry within Africa.

Osanipin announced the need for synergy between NADDC and OANDO Clean Energy, and other relevant stakeholders in stimulating the widespread adoption and implementation of electric vehicle technology in Nigeria’s public transportation network.

The World Bank’s Climate Risk Country Profile for Nigeria said, the country has witnessed 1°C rise of approximately in its mean temperature since the pre-industrial era.
