Nasarawa speaker urges LG chairmen to ensure adequate protection of their resident

Danladi Jatau, the speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has tasked the state’s local government chairmen to commend Governor Abdullahi Sule for his efforts in purging the state of criminal activity.

He asked the chairmen to make sure their homes were protected.

Speaking during a security conference he chaired, Jatau discussed strategies for addressing new threats in each of the state’s thirteen local government districts.

He urged for coordinated action against the trend while also denouncing the increasing number of kidnappings, armed robberies, and conflicts between communities in various areas of the state.

Governor Sule expressed his dismay at the occurrence, saying that in their capacity as heads of their respective councils’ security, it is crucial that they work with traditional leaders to find a solution.

“I was given the mandate by Governor Abdullahi Sule when he called us for state security meeting on 15th of this month.

“The security challenges such as kidnapping, communal clashes, armed robbery among other social vices have increased recently.

“Before now we have been enjoying relative peace in the state, so we convened this meeting to enable us to discuss the way to address the situation in our areas,” he said.

In response, Speaker Lafia LG and State ALGON Chairman Aminu Muazu Maifata lauded the governor and speaker for their efforts to secure the state.

Maifata, who also serves as the national president of ALGON, demanded increased funding so that council leaders could deal with security issues in their particular regions.
