Newly promoted officers decorated and urged to instill discipline by Rivers CP

78 officers have been decorated and elevated to the rank of Superintendents of Police by Rivers State Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu and his management team. They are required to closely monitor the officers that report to them.

At a short but colorful ceremony held at the Police Officers Mess in Port Harcourt, CP Disu, with assistance from Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Samuel Etaifo-Erale, and DCP, Operations, Adepoju Olugbenga, decorated the officers one by one after they were promoted from the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police to SP.

Speaking to the officers who had just been promoted, CP Disu congratulated them and said that the position had come with a great deal of responsibility, therefore they needed to step up.

While praising the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for allowing him to decorate the promoted officers, he complimented the Police Service Commission for the prompt issuance of the promotions following their recommendations.

Answering questions from reporters, Disu urged the recently decorated officers to respect the principles of the Nigerian Police Force, act as good representatives, and show concern for the welfare of their subordinate officers.

He stated, “Today is a day of celebration for all of us, as 78 officers of this Command have just been promoted from the rank of DSP to SP.

“During the training of these officers, we made them know they now have enormous task on their shoulders. They have more jobs to do. More jobs of supervision, discipline of officers under them and most importantly the need to take care of the welfare of their officers.

Urging the new SPs to continue to sustain the tenets of Nigerian Police with their wealth of experiences, he said, “My charge to them is to know that bigger task is expected of them. Better things are expected of them and we expect them to sustain the Nigerian Police because of their youth, vigour and the new rank they have just attained.”

Fidelia Agomuo thanked the CP and his management team on behalf of the new SPs, stating that it was an honor for her and her colleagues to be recognized with their new rank in front of them.

She expressed gratitude to the PSC and IGP for recommending them and then approving their promotions, while also assuring them that they would uphold the trust placed in them.
