NNPP will collapse if I become a VP says Kwankwaso

The presidential falgbearer of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, said that NNPP will collapse if he becomes a Vice President to any presidential candidate.

The former Governor of Kano State, disclosed this on Saturday in Gombe State after inaugurate the state office of NNPP and the secretariat of the party.

He pointed out the political challenges bedevilling the South-East, adding that it should be tackled politically.

He said, “From the discussion with Labour Party, the main issue was who becomes the president if the parties merge.

“At the end of the day, some of our representatives thought that there should be a criterion in terms of age, qualification, offices held, performance and so on, Of course, the other side wouldn’t want that. Most of the people from there believe that the president has to go there (South East).

“If now I decide to be a vice-presidential candidate to anybody in this country; NNPP will collapse because the party is based on what we have built in the last 30 years.

He further said, “The South-East is good in terms of business, very hard working and industrious, but one area they must learn is politics. They are at the bottom line.

“If you look at the situation, they have lost out with APC and PDP; no President, no Vice President. The only opportunity the South East has to be President or Vice is with the NNPP, “this is the only golden opportunity that they have. If they lose this opportunity, it will be a disaster.

He stated that “even if my friend (Peter Obi) wants to accept vice presidential candidate, some people in the South East will not accept, that is not strategic.”

“The best for the South East is to come and partner. Maybe after eight years, after our term, that is the only time they will say okay he is the best for the country.”
