Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide has called for compensation from FCT minister over asokoro demolition

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide, the youth wing of the pan-Igbo socio-cultural group, has called on Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to promptly restore and provide sufficient financial compensation for the allegedly malicious and unjustified demolition of properties valued at billions of naira in the Asokoro District of Abuja.

The group claimed that its attention had been drawn to the extremely unsettling incident that occurred at the Asokoro extension of Abuja, where some Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) agents, acting in a gestapo manner, used their bulldozers to destroy the lawful properties of businessman Nicholas Ukachukwu, following the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike’s orders.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, the acting national youth leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing internationally, stated that the land had a clear history of validity and had been legitimately purchased in the 1990s.

He said that the group had viewed all acquisition records, court rulings, orders, and proof of ministerial approvals for title restoration. He also said that it was very depressing that this hateful and illegal act had been carried out without following the law or a legitimate court ruling.

He stated that the FCT authorities should be reminded that Nigeria is governed by law and as such, they should refrain from doing anything that is detrimental to the peace, unity, and progress of the nation. This is in contrast to their claims that the land was mistakenly assigned to Praco International Limited and the Ukachukwus.

He stated that the FCT Authorities needed to be warned, expressing anger at FCTA’s blatant disregard for the law and their willingness to inflict harm on their fellow Nigerians without any real reason.

According to him, they wanted to take advantage of this chance to urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step in as a solution for equity, justice, and peace. They wanted to do this as law-abiding people.

He continued by saying that government was a continuum and that previous FCT ministers were aware of the laws governing the administration of FCT land. For this reason, it is instructive to note that the Ukachukwu Brothers are law-abiding citizens with national honors who earned their wealth via diligence and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

They have also made significant contributions to the Federal Capital Territory’s development, peace, and general well-being.

On behalf of the group, Mazi Okpalaezeukwu urged that the Ukachukwu Brothers receive sufficient financial compensation for the allegedly malicious and unjustified demolition of their properties, as well as an immediate and unconditional apology for labeling them as land grabbers.

The group praised President Bola Tinubu for his courage and tenacity in reshaping the economy for sustainable growth and for his Renewed Hope Agenda.

They also urged the president to graciously release “our Brother Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in order to strengthen our hands in mobilizing support for him.”

“We reaffirm our loyalty and devotion to the Leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide led by the President General- His Excellency Chief Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu MFR OFR CFR(Ahaejiagamba), for a Peaceful, Stable and Progressive Nigerian State that shall be the pride of all black Nations of the world,” the group added.
