In preparation for the Ondo State governorship primary on April 20, the All Progressives Congress will begin evaluating the 16 candidates vying for the party’s nomination today.
The two-day screening process was rescheduled after the Federal Government decided to extend the Eid-el-Fitr vacation. It had originally been planned to begin on Thursday.
The exercise is scheduled to take place today, soon after the National Working Committee of the party established a seven-member Ondo State Governorship Screening Committee and a separate five-member Screening Appeal Committee at the national secretariat in Abuja.
Former Deputy Governor of Gombe State Senator Joshua Lidani will lead the screening committee, and Bimbo Daramola, a former member of the House of Representatives, will serve as the committee secretary.
Pastor Jones Erue, High Chief Second Bakor, Prof. Chukwudi Ledirick, Magaret Duru, and Hon. Abdul Rahim Balogun are the other members.
The senator from Kogi Central, Oseni Yakubu, will serve as the chairman of the five-member Screening Appeal Committee.
Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, Pious Idele, and Emmanuel Ekeh are the other members of the appeal committee.
The APC stated in a statement posted on its official X account that all candidates for governorship had been duly advised of the new date and the importance of arriving on time for the procedure.
