Ondo police investigates looted truck conveying food items

The Ondo State Police Command, has said they are yet to apprehend anyone over the robbery of a truck allegedly transporting  some food items, suspected to be palliatives along the Ondo-Akure Expressway, on Tuesday.

It was said that the truck was attacked by some residents of Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Monday evening.

According to news gathered, the bus, which was said to be travelling to Akure from Ondo town, was parked by the roadside after developing a fault, but residents of the Adebowale area of the town, having discovered the content of the truck, allegedly stormed the scene and robbed the vehicle.

Reporters in the area explained that the robbers, haven seen the packed foodstuffs in the cartons with the photo of President  Tinubu, stormed into the scene and made away with the items.

The reporter said, “Most of those who looted the truck were Okada riders and some artisans in the area.

“As soon as they discovered that the truck was carrying foodstuffs and other items, they mobilized the place, and they looted as many cartons as they could.”

Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, the state Police Public Relations Officer, when contacted, stated that the command was still investigating the matter, but no one had been arrested yet.

“We haven’t arrested anyone, but we are investigating,” the PPRO explained.
