Osun begins registration of people living with disabilities

Ademola Adeleke, the Osun State Governor has directed immediate commencement of registration of all citizen with any form of disabilities.

Kamil Aransi, the governor’s Special Adviser on Special Needs, declared the commencement of the registration, said the exercise would last 10 days and would attract no payment from the registrants.

Aransi said the exercise would start today (Monday) and end on Friday, June 7, 2024.

Aransi said the registration would “assist the government in knowing the precise number of people with special needs, especially in terms of wants and demands, such as physical, sensory, cognitive, and intellectual impairments.”

He added that the initiative would help the government plan and cater for the persons with special needs in the state.

He also stated that the main purpose of the registration “is to be able to identify and provide necessary support for people with special needs and to create an inclusive society where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive.”
