The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has on Sunday declared Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the Osun governorship election held on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
Senator Adeleke, won 17 local governments out of the 30 LGA in the state, polled a total of 402,979 votes, while the incumbent governor and flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress, Gboyega Oyetola, won the remaining 13 local government areas with a total of 375,077 votes, with a winning margin of 27,902 votes in favour of the PDP. Followed by the candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Kehinde Atanda, who scored 10,104 votes. while the Accord Party (AP) candidate, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi polled a total of 4,515 votes. Yussuf Lasun, of the Labour Party (LP), scored a total of 2,729 votes. While African Action (AA) Congress with 2,141 votes.
Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe pronounced Adeleke winner at 7:10 am, having satisfied the requirements of the law.
He said, “I declare that Ademola Adeleke Jackson Nurudeen, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”
Adeleke has earlier expressed his confidence in winning the election. saying that he wasn’t afraid.
