Oyo Commissioner for Environment issues seven-day ultimatum to roadside traders

Oyo State Governor, Oluseyi Makinde on Tuesday, gave seven days ultimatum to occupants and owners of illegal sited kiosks, containers, shanties and other business operations to evacuate the road sides or face the wrath of the law.

Abdulmojeed Mogbojuola the state Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, gave this decree during his visit to Ojoo community in the Akinyele Local Government Area of the state.

Mogbojubola, reavealed that activities of some illegal occupants have been constituting nuisance around the vicinity.

In his words “the act has been causing unwarranted obstruction of free flow of traffic, passers by and vehicles” contrary to the  2013 Environmental Sanitation Regulation.

“Illegal operations should be halted, especially, on the road sides and drainages occupied by the individuals. And you must vacate this place in seven days.”

However,  he proposed that business activities should be relocated to more suitable and conducive places meant for them in the neighborhood markets.

Following his advice, the state means well for the occupants as this would help reduce constant road accidents, loss of lives and properties.
