Oyo govt closes down six healthcare facilities over illegal practices

The Oyo state government recently embarked on a regulatory compliance inspections exercise in the state capital, Ibadan, leading to the close down of six Healthcare facilities which failed to meet up with the requirements for operations.

In a statement released by the Comissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade; the six health facilities were guilty of engaging in illicit practices, which are against the codes and conducts of the Healthcare system.

The state government has closed down the following facilities: Emilagba Clinic & Maternity, Omolara Clinic & Maternity Home, New Jobi Memorial Hospital, Emiloju Clinic & Maternity Centre Ogbere, and Safeway Clinic, Iped Amazing Grace Medical Clinic.

Speaking during the inspection and monitoring exercise, the state antiquackery task force committee chairman, Dr. Adekunle Aremu stated that the team carried out the exercise as a way of expressing the state government commitment to promoting and protecting the well-being of her people.

He further said, the state government will continue to kick against all forms of illicit and illegal practices in the health sector, and anyone found indulging in such acts would have the law to contend with.

Dr. Aremu emphasized the need for the good people of the state to join the state government in fighting against every form of illegal health practices, and he also urged the public to report any and every suspicious activity to the Ministry of Health or the closest security agency.

He added that people should make sure to patronize only fully accredited health facilities in the state and insist on being examined by qualified professionals.

He also appealed to health workers to always uphold the oath they swore before assuming their profession.

In conclusion he said “the state government will ensure that Healthcare services consistently meet the highest benchmarks for quality and safety, so citizens can trust their well-being is in safe hands”
