Police arrest motorcycle thieves in Sokoto

Kabiru Abubakar, who specialises in motorcycle theft together with some of his accomplices, has been arrested by Sokoto State Police Command.

In a statement signed by ASP Ahmad Rufai, the spokesman for the command, and made available to newsmen on Tuesday, that the suspect was arrested after stealing a motorcycle parked at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital.

The statement read, “One Kabiru Abubakar Alias “m” aged 25 has been arrested by Sokoto State Police Command’s Striking Force for allegedly stealing a motorcycle from where it was parked at Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital Sokoto (UDUTH), on the day hours of July 5, 2024.

“The motorcycle was recovered upon the arrest of the suspect, while the owner of the motorcycle was located and identified it as his.

The suspect confessed to the crime and also stole one motorcycle at Rahamat Clinic, Sokoto belonging to one Naziru Muhammad ‘M’ Kano Road.

“He mentioned one Kabiru Alhaji Yaro ‘m’ Bello Way Area, Sokoto as his receiver, and further investigations led to the recovery of six motorcycles.”

The statement further said that the suspects would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.
