Police Kill two Armed Robbers in Edo State

The Edo State Police in the early hour today (Sunday) killed two suspected armed robbers in Benin City, The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Jennifer Iwegbu, confirmed the incident.

According to the Command, they received information early on Sunday morning that some armed robbers had invaded a filling station, which is located off Murtala Mohamed way, they quickly track them with both police operatives and vigilantes to the scene.

“The armed robbers were later trailed to a different location where they were carrying out another operation. On sighting the team of security operatives, the armed robbers opened fire on them which led to a gun fight.

In the process, two of the armed robbers were hit by bullet while others escape, on arrivver of the suspects to Police Cottage Hospital in Benin, they were confirmed dead by the doctor and their bodies were deposited at the mortuary.

“Items recovered from them include one locally made pistol, three live cartridges.

The Commissioner of Police assured that more effort be put into securing the arrest and prosecution of other escaped members of the robbery.
