When police officers from Lagos State’s Okokomaiko Division fought with trader at the Alaba Rago Market in the Ojo Local Government, one individual was shot and killed.
Wakadaily gathered that there was a clash between police and some people when an officer visited the market to arrest a suspect but came under attack from the large number of traders. During the scuffle, one of the policemen opened fire on their attackers which lead to the death of one person.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson Lagos State Police Command SP Benjamin Hundeyin said the incident happened when the officers went to arrest a suspect at Alaba Rago market.
Hundeyin said, “Policemen of Okokomaiko Division today (Tuesday) went into Alaba Rago Market to effect arrest of a suspect but came under heavy attack from a large number of traders.
“In a bid to tactically retreat from the armed mob attack, one of the officers fired his weapon, resulting in fatal injury to one of the attackers.
“A detailed investigation has commenced into the immediate and remote causes of the incident.”
