President Tinubu urged to revitalize Ajaokuta-Otukpo rail line

Reviving the Ajaokuta-Otukpo Rail Line is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate.

Comrade Eleojo Simeon, a criminologist, filed an appeal yesterday in Abuja, arguing that the project will lessen traffic along the corridor and ease the strain on the current infrastructure by offering an alternate form of transit.

He said, “Residents and businesses alike stand to benefit from reduced travel times between regions, enhancing connectivity and economic integration.

“The project promises to stimulate job creation and foster economic growth in surrounding areas, providing opportunities for the local workforce,” he said.

Given his dedication to revolutionizing significant economic domains, Comrade Simeon urged Tinubu to give top priority to the Ajaokuta-Otukpo Rail line.

He said that the stage is set for major progress, with about thirty percent of the work already finished, including the building of the vital rail bridge across the River Niger near Itobe.

Simeon added that, “As Nigeria seeks to modernize its infrastructure and drive economic development, the revitalisation of the Ajaokuta-Otukpo Rail Line stands as a testament to the nation’s determination to embrace progress.

“With political will and strategic investment, this long-awaited project has the potential to unlock new opportunities and propel Nigeria towards a brighter future.”

The goal of the railway project, which was designed in tandem with the Itape-Ajaokuta-Warri Rail Line, was to make it easier for the Ajaokuta Steel Company to transport materials efficiently across the country.
