The “Ounje Eko” initiative, which aims to lower the cost of necessities food items at discounted markets throughout Lagos, was put into effect by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who has received praise from the Kehinde Oshilaja Foundation, a non-governmental organization that supports individuals with disabilities.
The praise was given at the foundation’s annual Zakat and food distribution to members, which took place on Tuesday at its Ebute-Metta, Lagos, offices.
The foundation’s coordinator, Kehinde Oshilaja, praised the government’s efforts and called the program impressive.
“Let me use this medium and opportunity to appreciate and thank the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for subsidising food items in Lagos State, as well as the establishment of consumer shops in 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas of the state.
“This is indeed a significant achievement and deserves praise. Future generations will remember your contributions, Mr. Governor,” Oshilaja said.
Oshilaja encouraged Governor Sanwo-Olu and his group to keep up the good work.
The organization made a plea to the federal government to take action on the problems that the nation’s disabled population faces.
The Federal Government said at the end of March that it was committed to supporting PWDs and defending their rights from prejudice, marginalization, and stigma.
Mohammed Isa, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Supportive Needs and Equal Opportunities, made this revelation at the Leprosy Mission of Nigeria Wellness Connect’s Abuja opening.
According to Isa, the President has taken action to guarantee that the National Disability Act is fully implemented.
