Security challenge worrisome, says Oba Adejugbe

The Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe, said that the insecurity afflicts in the country was worrisome and remained a pain in the neck of everyone, including the traditional institution.

The traditional ruler, who is the Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, also expressed concern over the prolonged industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Union of Universities

Oba Adejugbe, “who spoke at his palace while disclosing activities for the yearly Udiroko Festival, which would be held on Sunday, which symbolised the community’s New Year, described the festival as yet another opportunity to gather, pray, and discuss.

He said, “We are feeling the strike. We will continue to appeal to the Federal Government and ASUU. It is our prayers that FG and ASUU reach a compromise urgently for the strike to end, for the universities to open so that our children can return to school.

Speaking further he said, “We know the state of security in the country is bad. We will pray, and we will take the matter to our forefathers, who have instructed us to ask them in prayer for our needs, and there will be intervention. When we pray at Udiroko, our prayers are answered.

“It is like when Christians go to Jerusalem to pray or when Muslims go to Mecca to pray and have answers to their prayers.”
