Afrobeats superstar Seun Kuti has finally spoken out following his released from the police custody where he had been for more than a week.
Recall that the youngest son of late legendary singer, Fela Kuti was arrested on May 15 after video of him assaulting a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge surfaced online.
The singer was detained at the state criminal investigation Department (SCID) and arraigned before the magistrate’s court on May 16. The police had sought to get an order to further keep him in custody for 21 days pending the conclusion of its investigation.
Seun said the policeman had apologized to him and he has agreed not to press charges
“He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof but I no dey chase clout. He has apologized and I have agreed not to press charges. Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose his job”.
However, the Afrobeat singer was released on Tuesday night on bail from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Lagos.
Thanking his legal team for their support during his ordeal with the police, Seun Kuti wrote: “i want to say a profound thanks to everyone who showed me all this love. All my friends that showed up! Thanks most especially to my beautiful wife”.
