South African singer Tyla, who has previously won a Grammy award, has once again captured attention as she was escorted by two individuals in tuxedos at the 2024 Met Gala.
Tyla, who is 22 years old, made her first appearance at the prestigious event on May 6 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
She wore a tight-fitting Balmain ensemble, which made it challenging for her to walk, resulting in the attendants carrying her up certain sections of the museum’s staircase.
The “Water” crooner said she wore a look inspired by “the sands of time.”
The Met Gala’s theme is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” and the dress code is “The Garden of Time,” inspired by J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name.
Tyla stated that she and the team responsible for creativity “wanted something out of the box this year.”
“I just love the outfit and how everything turned out,” Tyla said.
