Sixteen dead, five injured in Lagos auto crash

Sixteen persons were confirmed dead while five others sustained various degrees of injuries on Tuesday in an accident involving two vehicls along Alaro City, Epe area of Lagos State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos Command, Olabisi Sonusi, confirmed the development with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Sonusi said the accident occurred at about 3:00 am and was caused by impaired visibility due to reckless driving.

The commander said that twenty-three male adults were involved in the crash; 16 died at the spot, while five sustained various degrees of injuries, and two suffered no injuries. Also revealed that the five injured victims have been hospitalised.

“The vehicles involved in the crash were a white bus with Registration number KTN 262YJ and an Articulated truck (Registration Number unknown).

“FRSC operatives and other emergency management agencies are on ground, ensuring prompt recovery and evacuation of all crashed vehicles.

He advised motorists to desist from overspeeding and reckless driving and also avoid night journey that could lead to unnecessary loss of lives.
