Sokoto central market destroyed by fire

The Sokoto Central market is currently engulfed in flames, affecting the motorcycle section.

An eyewitness who spoke with newsmen stated that the fire began early this morning, but it was not immediately clear what caused it.

According to another source, the fire originated from a dump site near the motorcycle section.

In response, Shehu Muhammad, the chairman of the Motorcycles Marketers Association, stated that they were unable to estimate the number of motorcycles destroyed by the fire because it was still burning.

“We cannot quantify the number of motorcycles burnt down by the fire now because the fire is still raging.

“But many people lost their shops along with their motorcycles because they could not come in time as the fire started around 6am.

“But men of the federal and state fire services are currently battling, but I know it will take some time before they can quench it all,” he said.

However, he urged the state administration to assist individuals who lost their belongings in the fire.
