Following his remarkable performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, received hero’s welcome back to South African club, Chippa United, on Tuesday.
On his arrival at Port Elizabeth Airport, the Igbo-born was welcomed by hundreds of Chippa united fans.
A video shared online on Tuesday, he was captured engaging with his fans taking selfies and partaken in reciting the club’s anthem.
Chippa United, via their social media celebrating his return with few words, “He’s Back #NwabaliBobo.”
Stanley’s remarkable performance during the AFCON earned him alot of cash, gifts, national honour, and a chieftaincy title in his hometown.
Due to his success, Nwabali has been linked with potential moves to other clubs like Kaizer Chiefs and Union St Gilloise.
The 27-year-old joined Go Round FC in 2019 where he started his career as a striker.
Nwabali, who played for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast was named Man of the Match in the semi-final encounter against South Africa, as he saved two penalties in a 4–2 victory during the shootouts.
