#SubsidyProtests: Labour protest in Bayelsa

The organized labor in Bayelsa State began its protest against the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government today, August 2.

They are marching to the Government House in Yenagoa, the state capital, along the Mbiama-Yenagoa Road.

Several policemen and other security operatives are monitoring the protest.

Also, Joe Ajaero, the National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, alongside other officials of the labour centre earlier assembled at the Unity Fountain at Abuja for a “peaceful protest”.

Olukayode Egbetokun, the acting inspector-general of police, had ordered the deployment of water-tight security nationwide over planned protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, scheduled to start on August 2nd.
